The vintage Ludwig gullwings legs could not get it off the ground. My bass did not sound great and it kept rocking in the dirt.

I set up just left of our tent so I could get some sun (if it was going to appear thru the clouds). I had my handy $10 Home Depot 10'x'6' industrial carpet but had I known, I would have brought a tarp, too. The load in was 100 feet from the parking lot, but I had to maneuver thru cars and it was all dirt, so I had to individually take each drum as there was no clean storage spot for gig bags/hardware cart. Well, the gig was safely and distance-ally done! Man, I sucked! Got there late (between kids and my dear spouse), and I hate to rush setting up, especially a new kit. Now if I could only just settle on a snare for the gig. This will be outdoors and I don't know if we are miked but I think the kit will be enough if just acoustic. I am very lucky to have this opportunity so I will make the most of it and I can't wait to try out the new kit! I haven't practiced with the group in person for 1+ year other than some Zoom jam alongs (with me on acoustic guitar with the rest of the kids).

I am very excited to be playing again live and especially with the dudes. I know a handful of the kids from our group will be there including my 2 guys and some of the older better players. It is a spring/Easter drive-thru event that will be socially distanced. We have a gig Saturday from 11-2pm at a local equestrian center. I finally scored a '69 14x20 and got the kit all dialed by the end of March last year. I had a Ludwig 8x12 and 12x15 (converted FT) in sky blue pearl (thanks, El Larry!) and had been looking for a bass. There are some great instructors that are very good local players so it's always nerve-wracking for me to even be playing with them, let alone teaching a bunch of kids! We've done all sorts of events, from libraries to festivals and everything in between. I am the house drummer and we play surf, pop, blues, rock, bluegrass, etc. Now my little guy is 8 and just "graduated" the beginner's class after 8 weeks. started a few years back in the class and now he is almost 13 and one of the student instructors. I volunteer instruct for a non-profit kids' all acoustic guitar group for ages 8-18. That's a bummer and I hope it gets better for all of you and everyone in general. I know there are many real players and musicians here that work in the industry for a living that are struggling due to COVID.
